The story behind The Girls That Can
TGTC was born from a simple but important question: What would change if more girls had access to the right guidance early enough?
We founded TGTC because high school girls need more than just academic success to thrive—they need a space that nurtures the whole person. While many students excel in the classroom, they often reach graduation with limited exposure to professional worlds and few opportunities to build the practical life skills necessary for the future.
High school is a pivotal stage for identity and decision-making, yet girls are frequently expected to choose their paths with very little support or information. TGTC bridges this gap by providing:
Real-World Exposure: Access to diverse professional perspectives that expand what students believe is possible.
Relatable Mentorship: Connecting girls with women who have walked these paths and can model tangible success.
Confidence & Readiness: A supportive environment to build ambition and the understanding that their future starts now.
Ultimately, we believe in the power of giving back. By guiding the next generation, this community is positioned to do more than offer advice—it is positioned to widen horizons and help young women see themselves, and their potential, differently.
Our mission & vision
Our mission is to equip high school girls with the mentorship, skills, confidence, and exposure they need to make informed decisions, pursue meaningful opportunities, and thrive in school, work, and life.
We envision a future where girls everywhere have access to the guidance, networks, and practical preparation needed to lead boldly, think critically, and pursue lives of purpose, impact, and possibility.
Our core values
Possibility: We believe every girl has potential worth developing and a future worth investing in.
Exposure: We believe access to real-world knowledge, people, and experiences can transform how girls think about themselves and their futures.
Growth: We value curiosity, learning, resilience, and the courage to keep developing.
Community: We believe growth happens best in supportive relationships and strong networks.
Purpose: We want girls not only to succeed personally, but also to think about how they can contribute meaningfully to their communities and the world around them.
What The Girls That Can offers
TGTC combines mentorship and practical development in a way that is supportive, relevant, and action-oriented. Depending on the cohort, participants may engage in small-group and one-on-one mentorship sessions, skills workshops, seminars, guest talks, career panels, and virtual or in-person exposure opportunities.
Key focus areas include:
confidence and self-advocacy
CV and LinkedIn development
interview preparation
communication and professional presence
career exploration
goal-setting and action planning
leadership and social responsibility
Our goal is not simply to inspire girls for a moment, but to equip them with life-long tools they can continue using, even after the program ends.
